Blower Motors

Single-phase motors are built differently from three phase motors that start and run in a direction based on the phase rotation of the incoming power. An auxiliary starting means is required to run single-phase motors, which, once started in a direction, will continue to run in that particular direction.

Single-phase motors are categorized by the method used to start the motor and the method used to establish the direction of rotation.

Split Phase Motors

Split phase motors are categorized under single phase and are generally available from 1/25 to 1/2 HP. They have low starting torque (turning force) and high starting current but are less expensive. Split phase motors are generally restricted to applications where the load needs low starting torque and starts are infrequent.

Capacitor Motors

Capacitor motors are available in sizes from sub-fractional to 15 HP and prove to be the most popular single-phase motors on the market.

Single Value Capacitor Motors

They are also called permanent split capacitor (PSC) motors. The motor operates with a capacitor connected in series with one of the two windings. This type of motor is generally used on small sized fans, blowers, and pumps typically less than 1 HP.

Two Value Capacitor Motors

The two value capacitor motor is generally used on large blowers with 5-15 HP single phase motors. It starts as a capacitor start motor but runs as a form of a two phase or PSC motor. Therefore, large single-phase motors having high starting torques and moderate starting currents can be constructed using this combination, and at reasonable rates.

Blood Pressure

Arteries carry blood from the heart to all parts of the body. Blood pressure is the force that pushed along the arteries every time the heart beats. So, blood pressure is a measure of how hard the heart has to work to pump blood.

This process is known as systolic pressure. The process where the heart is at rest, between beats and the blood pressure falls is known as diastolic pressure. Blood pressure is measured using a blood pressure cuff and recorded as systolic pressure over diastolic pressure. The top number indicates the systolic pressure and the bottom indicates the diastolic pressure. Normal blood pressure must be lower than 120/80.

Blood pressure varies during the course of a day. It is lowest when the person is resting and gradually rises as the person gets up. Blood pressure usually rises when the person is tense, agitated, or generally energetic, even though it stays pretty much the same. Blood pressure in children is comparatively much lower than in the adults since pressure rises as a person ages.

The systolic and diastolic reading of 140/90 or higher indicates high blood pressure. This usually results in faster heartbeat as the heart tries to pump blood faster, and this might result in a stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems due to the pressure on the arteries.

Severe medical problems also cause blood pressure to rise. Also, arteries become hardened and narrowed with cholesterol plaque and calcium, resulting in the heart having to pump harder to make blood pass through these arteries. When the heart pumps harder, blood pressure tends to automatically increase.

High blood pressure is linked to hypertension, which leads to heart attack. With a reading higher than 180/110 the patient required immediate medical attention since the risk of heart attack is greatest.

Blood Pressure Monitors

Blood pressure monitors allow you to keep track of your own blood pressure, in the peace and quiet of your own home, without having to go to the doctor. This will put you in control of your own health, so that you can look for signs of your blood pressure changing, and then visit the doctor when you need.

Measuring your blood pressure at home and keeping a record of the measurements will show you and your doctor how much your blood pressure changes during the day. Your doctor can use the measurements to see how well your medicine is working to control your high blood pressure. Also, measuring your own blood pressure is a good way to take part in managing your health.

To measure your blood pressure at home, you can use either an aneroid monitor or a digital monitor. The aneroid monitor has a dial gauge that is read by looking at a pointer. The cuff is inflated by squeezing a rubber bulb. Digital monitors have either manual or automatic cuffs.

One advantage of the aneroid monitor is that it is portable, and its cuff has a built-in stethoscope. The aneroid monitor also has some disadvantages. First, it is a complicated device that can easily be damaged and become less accurate. This monitor may not be appropriate for hearing-impaired people, because of the need to listen to heart sounds through the stethoscope.

Because the digital monitor is automatic, the blood pressure measurement is easy to read, since the numbers are shown on a screen. Some electronic monitors have a paper printout that gives you a record of the blood pressure reading.

A disadvantage of the digital monitor is that body movements or an irregular heart rate changes the accuracy. You should have your monitor checked once a year. Proper care and storage are also necessary. Make sure the tubing is not twisted when the monitor is stored, and keep it away from heat. Periodically check the tubing for cracks and leaks.

Blinds 101

Blinds are window coverings that come with either vertical or horizontal slats. They are used to enhance interiors and for partial or complete blockage of light. They are convenient and easy to use and install. They come in a variety of styles, textures and sizes. They are extremely delicate and add grace and charm to a room. They can be simple or extensively designed.

The most basic types of blinds are the functional models that come without any frills. They may not add much, aesthetically, to a room, but are very efficient sun shields, and offer the people inside the room privacy.

When shopping for blinds, it is recommended to know the various types available in the market. Family and friends, who have them, should be consulted before a purchase. Getting expert opinions is also recommended. The buyer can also look for price quotes online, any time.

x93Grab and gox94 blinds are pre-cut shades that the customer can buy off the shelf. These are made for the most common window sizes. These blinds do not fit as well as custom-made blinds or shades. They are also the lowest priced blinds on the market since they are made of lightweight, cheap materials and lower quality hardware. There is not much of a choice in sizes or colors and they also lack a warranty. These blinds generally do not have very long life. Since they are cheap, they make a good choice for places like basements, garages and attics. x93Grab and gox94 blinds are available at most reduction chain stores, large department stores and home enhancement centers.

Blinds can be purchased at stores, and they can be ordered online as well. However, it is important to verify the credibility of the suppliers to avoid getting duped or end up with less than you expected.

Bleeding Hemorrhoids: A Common Ailment

Bleeding hemorrhoids are common and occur with both internal and external cases. Be sure to consult a doctor if you notice any bleeding from the rectum before, during or after a bowel movement – and especially any bleeding in the absence of a bowel movement.

Internal hemorrhoids may cause bright red spots of blood may appear on toilet paper after a bowel movement. Blood spots may appear on toilet paper if one wipes the anus before a bowel movement, and, in addition, blood may also appear on individual pieces of stool. Because the bleeding takes place internally, small amounts of blood may leak from the anus even in the absence of a bowel movement and there is the possibility that the stool will pick up small amounts of blood on its way out of the large intestine.

Likewise, in external cases, because the swollen veins are on the outside of the anus, bright red blood streaks will tend to appear on toilet paper after a bowel movement. Blood spotting before a bowel movement would indicate that the patient is suffering from either internal hemorrhoids or both internal and external hemorrhoids, a rare but not impossible scenario.

Blank CD Cases

Many centuries ago William Shakespeare quoted ‘If music be the food of love, play on.’ Years later the sentiment still lives on. For many, music is the essence of life and the tendency to collect it becomes more of an addiction at times. Whatever the content, though, it is of paramount importance to protect CDs, which are fragile and vulnerable to scratches and dust collection.

New CDs usually come in a case. However, the same is not the case when people are creating backup discs or burning their own music CDs. These are usually purchased in bulk and come without any cases. To protect the discs, it is advisable to purchase blank CD cases. These are good value for money and help prevent dust accumulation.

To ensure longevity, each disc should be kept in a separate CD case. People with a vast collection of CDs may opt for blank CD case folders or wallets, which offer a compact storage options.

Hard plastic CD cases are universally known as CD jewel cases. Blank CD jewel cases are apt for storing CDs, and are a convenient option for people on the move. Another good option while selecting blank CD cases is to buy CD containers or spindles. These have a hard outer casing and can be used to store multiple CDs in minimal space.

In case people need to carry a few CDs around, it is advisable to use a portable CD case. These have a strong outer covering and multiple blank plastic sheets within that can fit CDs and sometimes, the insert booklets as well. There are also multiple color-coded blank CD cases available. These are beneficial for filing subject specific study material or collections of individual artistes. Whatever the purpose, a blank CD case is the perfect way to keep your CD collection safe for years on end.

Bladeless Lasik

Traditionally, a LASIK surgery involves a microkeratome or a metal blade that cuts the corneal flap, which is folded back before the surgeon applies laser energy for reshaping the cornea. This method has been well in practice since the time LASIK eye surgery has been discovered. However, due to the unpredictability of the performance of this equipment and repeated reports of them being the source of frequent complications, the bladeless LASIK or the IntraLase technology has come into vogue. The bladeless technology employs a computer controlled laser rather than a handheld mechanical device as used in regular LASIK surgery, and is considered a safer and better option.

IntraLase LASIK is also known as Femtosecond technology. It is used to create the flap in the cornea. Energy pulses are applied on the eye at a rate of one quadrillion per second. While the traditional LASIK surgery employs the microkeratome for creating the flap, an IntraLase aims at cutting the flap on the surface of the eye. The typical advantages of a bladeless LASIK includes reduced flap related complications, lesser instances of dry eye syndrome and improved control over the creation of the flap size and depth. All this is directly related to the post surgical eye conditions of the patient including the various symptoms affecting the visual quality after the operation.

IntraLase or bladeless surgery is also considered to produce a consistent thickness in the flap from one edge to the other, the accuracy of which has been unprecedented in flap creation technology. With a better flap stability demonstrated in bladeless LASIK surgery, the possibilities of flap complications such as partial flaps, free flaps, or flap dislocation can be reduced or eliminated to a great extent.

Bladder Infections

Our urinary system consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. The most important parts in the system are the kidneys, which remove liquid waste from the blood in the form of urine and maintain a balance of salts and other substances in the blood. The kidneys also produce a hormone that aids the formation of red blood cells.

Ureters are narrow tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder, which is located in the lower abdomen. Urine is stored in the bladder and excreted through the urethra. The amount of urine passed by an average adult varies, depending on the fluids and foods he may have consumed.

Bladder infection is a bacterial infection that affects any part of the urinary tract. It is also commonly called urinary tract infection (UTI) or cystitis. Our urine contains a variety of fluids, salts and waste but is free from bacteria. Whenever bacteria gets into the bladder and starts multiplying in the urine, it causes a bladder infection. Bladder infections are common health problems affecting millions of people each year; only respiratory infections occur more often. Women are more prone to bladder infections than men, and one woman in five develops a bladder infection during her lifetime.

Bladder infections are quickly and easily treated, although they may cause a lot of discomfort. It is important that all bladder infections are treated at once, as they may sometime develop into a more serious kidney infection if left untreated. Bladder infections cannot be passed on from others, though sexual intercourse may cause bacteria to travel to the urinary tract in females, causing the infection.

Blackjack Strategy

Blackjack, also commonly known as twenty-one, is undoubtedly one of the most popular casino card games in the world. Much of blackjack’s popularity and reputation is due to the blend of chance with elements of skill, and the publicity that surrounds card counting. Card counting refers to the act of keeping track of all the cards, which have been played since the previous shuffle.

When blackjack was introduced for the first time in the United States the enthusiasm with which it was received was extremely bleak. As such, gambling houses experimented by offering various bonus payouts to get the players to the tables. One such bonus was a 10-to-1 disbursement if the player’s hand consisted of the ace of spades and a black Jack. This hand was labeled a ‘blackjack’ and the name stuck even though the bonus payout was soon eradicated.

Professional and experienced black jack players will agree that there does not exist any one best blackjack strategy. The best strategy available varies from person to person. People searching for the same can consult a number a number of card counting books and blackjack strategies. It is often seen that ultimately the best strategy depends on the person’s skill, amount of effort the person wishes to expend and the circumstances for play.

The basic strategy plays a very important role in the game of blackjack. This strategy ascertains when to hit and when to stand, and also agrees on when doubling down or splitting is the correct action. Apart from the basic strategy there also exists a simple variation of Blackjack, called Blackjack Switch. The blackjack switch when played correctly tends to yield a perfect strategy that can give a person an excellent edge in the game.

A suitable blackjack strategy can be obtained online through a number of websites offering information on the same. Tricks and strategies can also be obtained from other experienced players. People should make adequate use of these resources in order to frame the best possible strategy that suits them the most.

Blackjack Odds

A player can get good odds in a blackjack game depending on the rules of the game and the skill of the player. Assuming that a player used the correct basic strategy, a single deck game with Las Vegas Strip rules and double after splitting can actually give the player a 0.1% advantage.

In theory, blackjack can offer the player the best odds in the house. Players usually do not have to look hard to find a blackjack game with a high casino edge. The basic thing a player should know about blackjack odds is that you should never take a hit on 20 or 21, since 21 means blackjack and a guaranteed win. On the other hand, the worst blackjack game that a player might run into would be an 8-deck game with double on 10 and 11 only, dealer hits soft-17 and no re-splits. However, as long as naturals are paid at 3 to 2, this game is probably better than any other in the casino.

However, unlike craps, which requires only knowledge of where to place your bet, blackjack requires skill. You must know your basic strategy well, and should be willing to place more money on the table when called for in double-down and split situations. The continuous flow of inexperienced new players and players who refuse to follow basic strategy increases the casino’s advantage by 5% or so.

Blackjack odds are based on the percentage of times you would lose if you took a hit while holding that hand value. Although the effectiveness of blackjack odds is not proven, knowledge of blackjack odds can aid you in being a more educated player. However, if luck is on your side, you can hit that lucky twenty-one and would not have to consider any odds.
